What the service is
We publish a searchable list of opportunities gathered from other organisations, and tools to help you decide which to apply for. We may change, pause, or withdraw any part of it. We do not promise the site will always be available.
The site is still being built
Ajar is in early access. Parts of it are unfinished and change from week to week: pages move, features appear, and these terms are updated as they do. The listings and the links to them work — treat everything around them as work in progress. The date at the top of this page is when we last changed it.
We never charge for access to an opportunity
Access to every listing on this site is free, and we take no fee from any application. Nor does a legitimate employer, funder or university: a request from an organisation for a registration fee, a visa fee, a training fee, or a payment to release an offer is the clearest sign that an offer is not real. Do not pay it. Report it to abuse@seeajar.com with the link and we will investigate and, where the listing is ours, remove it.
Using the site fairly
Use the site for finding and applying to opportunities. Do not scrape it at scale, resell the listings, submit false reports, attempt to break into it, or use it to harass anyone. We may block access if you do.
Accounts
Creating an account means accepting these terms and the privacy policy. You can sign in with an email address and a password, or with Google — and if you use both with the same address, they reach the same account rather than making a second one. We confirm your address before the account works, because an unconfirmed address is somebody else's until proven otherwise. Keep your password to yourself; anyone who has it, or who can read your email, can sign in as you. Choose something you have not used elsewhere. Every account gets a username. It is a handle for support, not a profile: readers cannot search for each other, and we will not create a directory. Do not choose one that impersonates us, another person, or an organisation — we may reclaim it if you do. You can see everything we hold, download it, sign out every device, and close the account from your account page, at any time and without asking. Tell us at security@seeajar.com if you think someone else has got in.
Who owns what
The opportunities themselves belong to the organisations that published them, and we link to their originals. Our own writing — descriptions we rewrite in plain language, our summaries, the design of the site — belongs to us. Do not copy the collection wholesale.
If you are an organisation and want a listing removed
Write to legal@seeajar.com with the link and tell us you are the publisher. We remove or correct listings on request from the organisation that published them, and we do it quickly. You do not need a lawyer to ask.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something here infringes your copyright, write to legal@seeajar.com with the link, a description of the work, and confirmation that you hold the rights. We will review and respond.
Payments
Core access to opportunities is free and always will be. Some optional features may be paid. Where payment is by card, Paddle is the merchant of record and its terms apply to the transaction. Where payment is by mobile money, Flutterwave processes it. We will state the price and what you get before you pay.
Limits of our responsibility
We provide the site as it is. We are not responsible for the accuracy of listings, for the conduct of the organisations that publish them, for any loss that follows from applying to an opportunity, or for money you send to a third party. Please read the accuracy disclaimer — it explains this in more detail. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We will update this page when the service changes, and we will change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you and you have an account, we will tell you by email.
Governing law
These terms will be governed by the law of the place where the operating entity is registered. That entity is not yet formed, and this section will be completed before the site accepts any payment.
