An Opportunity that pays $500 stipend: Conservation Data & Mapping Externship (National Geographic x The Nature Conservancy) Hey everyone! Sharing an opportunity I think a lot of us in this community would benefit from. National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy have opened applications for a free 8-week remote Externship focused on conservation data, GIS mapping, and science storytelling, open to anyone aged 18-25. What you'll get out of it: Hands-on training with Esri GIS tools (industry standard) A real, location-based research project in your own community A portfolio-ready StoryMap you can use for job/grad school applications $500 stipend on completion Direct mentorship from experts at two major conservation orgs It's fully remote, about 10 hours/week, and a great fit if you're interested in environmental work, data visualization, or just want a strong credential to add to your CV. 📅 Applications close August 30, 2026 🚀 Program starts September 14, 2026 Happy to answer questions if anyone's on the fence about applying!
