DanChurchAid (DCA) Syria invites applications for an experienced NTS/EORE Team Member to join our dedicated team. • Under the supervision of the NTS/EORE Team Leader, undertake assigned Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities in accordance with applicable DCA procedures and operational tasking. • Conduct NTS through the systematic collection, recording and reporting of information from communities, authorities and other relevant sources relating to suspected explosive ordnance contamination and humanitarian impact, without independently determining land classification or land-release outcomes. • Deliver EORE using approved DCA messages, materials and methodologies to increase awareness of explosive ordnance risks and promote safer behaviour, while supporting appropriate community engagement, data collection and reporting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Conduct assigned NTS activities through the systematic collection and recording of information from relevant sources using approved DCA NTS formats and procedures. • Deliver assigned EORE sessions using approved DCA messages, educational materials and methodologies to promote awareness of explosive ordnance risks and safer behaviour. • Conduct NTS and EORE activities in accordance with applicable DCA procedures and operational tasking. • Support EORE community outreach activities, campaigns and special awareness events as assigned. • Adapt EORE communication methods to suit different target groups and literacy levels while maintaining accurate and consistent delivery of approved risk-education messages. • Build positive working relationships with communities, authorities and other relevant stakeholders and information sources in support of assigned NTS and EORE activities. • Facilitate appropriate community engagement and participation in assigned NTS and EORE activities. • Recognise and report community concerns or information relating to suspected explosive ordnance contamination through the appropriate DCA reporting channels. • Support inclusive engagement and appropriate access to women, men, girls, boys and other relevant community members and information sources during assigned activities. • Work collaboratively with other team members and follow the guidance and instructions of the NTS/EORE Team Leader and relevant HMA management. • Maintain professional conduct as a representative of DCA and contribute to continuous improvement and a positive, inclusive and professional team environment. • Apply approved navigation, map-reading and Global Positioning System (GPS) techniques during assigned NTS activities. • Use approved DCA systems and tools to accurately record and manage NTS information and EORE activity data. • Complete required NTS and EORE records and reports accurately and on time. • Use and care for assigned equipment, IT equipment and applications appropriately in support of assigned NTS and EORE activities. • Operate safely in field environments and comply with all applicable safety and security procedures. MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE • Educational Level: Primary School Certificate, a high school degree will be an added asset. • Years of work experience: Minimum one year of relevant experience in NTS and/or EORE, community liaison or other relevant humanitarian mine action activities. • Language skills and local knowledge: Appropriate language skills and local knowledge relevant to the areas and communities in which assigned activities are undertaken. • Field requirements: Able and willing to undertake field travel as required. • Relevant technical capabilities: Following appointment, personnel must successfully complete required DCA NTS and EORE training, DCA competency verification and applicable induction, refresher and mandatory pre-deployment training before operational deployment.
