About this opportunity
The position is to be filled as of 1st of January 2027, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Kassala, Sudan (SD).
As Head of Project you will be responsible for the effective management and implementation of our projects in Kassala State, ensuring that activities are delivered on time, within budget and in line with Welthungerhilfe and donor requirements. You will oversee project coordination, planning, implementation and reporting, while ensuring the appropriate and efficient use of project funds. In close coordination with Welthungerhilfe's regional office and relevant partners, you will contribute to the successful delivery of the projects and their inteneded results. Through your work, you will contribute to strengthening civil society and improving access to services for maginalized communities in Kassala State.
Your responsibilities
• Manage and implement the project(s) in line with donor requirements and Welthungerhilfe standards, ensuring effective planning, monitoring, budgeting, logistics, finance, and administration.
• Continuously review and adapt project plans and budgets and report on progress, challenges, and risks to the Country Director/Area Manager.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with donors and other relevant stakeholders across humanitarian, rehabilitation, and development programming, in coordination with the Country Office.
• Manage and recruit project staff in line with Welthungerhilfe's leadership principles, policies, and strategy, and ensure effective project office management where applicable.
• Ensure the implementation and appropriate adaptation of Welthungerhilfe policies, including the establishment and maintenance of the project's security management system and preparedness arrangements for potential crises and disasters.
• Represent Welthungerhilfe with relevant national and international stakeholders and strengthen networks with civil society, government, academia, and other partners, in coordination with the Country Office.
• Support public relations and Welthungerhilfe's local visibility and accompany visiting donors, Head Office staff, and journalists or ensure appropriate representation when required.
• Contribute to country strategy development, strategic planning, and Country Management discussions, and take on other tasks relevant to the position as assigned by management.
Your profile
• Higher university degree in Agriculture, Project Management, Community Development, Social Sciences, or another related field.
• At least 7 years’ professional experience on project coordination and management of project expenditure/ plans with international organization.
• Experience in planning, leading and coordinating with other partners at the field level.
• Experience on managing teams and working with donor fund project.
• Advance knowledge on MS Office skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access) is mandatory.
• Strong communication on spoken and writing English language is mandatory. Knowleedge of Arabic is an asset.
