Job Purpose The Protection Program Coordinator will lead the implementation of the protection program strategy to ensure IYD's intervention is timely, effective and relevant to the range of needs. The protection program coordinator will be responsible for the overall management of Syria-funded multi-donor, integrated protection programs. The protection program coordinator will be responsible for the direct implementation of the protection program, working under the supervision of the CEO to ensure objectives are on track, work plans are in place, and program progress is on track. This will require her/ him to work constructively with colleagues across the HQ team and within the field offices team. The position is also expected to ensure complementary technical support to the team in coordination with GBV/CP technical advisor. Key Responsibilities 1. Overall supervision and successful implementation of the protection program. 2. Work in strict coordination with other program colleagues (Shelter, WASH, FSL and ERL) to ensure meaningful integration of sectors and complementarity of services. 3. Lead the protection program and implementation under the overall guidance of the CEO and in coordination with the protection team. 4. Hold regular meetings with the other departments to ensure that cooperation is in place and the required support is provided; ensure that the CEO is kept informed/participates as needed. 5. Provide needed support to ensure that the technical support is streamlined to the service delivery, evaluate activity progress (implementation plans, action plans, on-track/off-track assessments etc.), and determine necessary actions to address potential delays and issues. 6. Participate in monthly BVA meetings to review program spending, update the spend-down plan accordingly, and mitigate any potential under/overspending. 7. Design and follow up on the projects’ procurement plans in close coordination with the operations and logistics department. 8. Draft and finalize relevant reports in collaboration with the Grants Unit and Protection Technical advisor; provide program reports that are timely and meet institutional and donor requirements. The Protection Coordinator is ultimately responsible for all relevant donor reporting for the Programs. 9. Represent IYD at relevant stakeholder or coordination meetings, as needed, and maintain a positive, continuous, and visible presence for IYD. 10. In collaboration with the Grants Unit, organize and lead program kick-off meetings, grant review meetings, and grant closeout meetings and lead in the development and oversight of the IYD Project Implementation Tool. 11. Overall supervision of protection program staff and regularly review work plans and implementation plans to ensure successful implementation of the projects activities. 12. Ensure meaningful coordination between the protection team and the technical advisor to guarantee comprehensive capacity building and supervision of protection staff, and create a positive work environment that ensures smooth cross-functional coordination that can contribute to achieving the program objectives. 13. Uphold and promote IYD's commitment to ensuring the safeguarding and safety of the vulnerable communities we serve. Consistent with IYD's safeguarding and protection policies, ensure all people who come into contact with IYD are as safe as possible. Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative onesother future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart. Qualification (Education/Work Experience) A. Essential: · BA degree or equivalent years of experience in political science, social sciences, psychological or related field. · Minimum of five years of professional experience leading, managing, and implementing emergency response programs in protection programming in a conflict setting. · Good experience in the implementation of GBV response and risk mitigation activities, women empowerment, PSS, and Child Protection. · Fluent English and Arabic speaking, writing, and comprehension skills are required. · Strong budgeting and budget monitoring skills, including a high level of proficiency with MS Excel. B. Desirable: · Excellent experience in project management (planning, implementation). · Demonstrated experience in the management of protection programming is highly desirable. · Program development experience with a focus on integrated programming. · Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and strategic planning skills are required.
